Mission Statement

Our mission is to advance environmental sustainability in Plymouth through education, community engagement, communication, and coordination with residents, businesses, and organizations.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Sustainable Plymouth meets on the sacred land of the Wampanoag Nation. We honor the Herring Pond Wampanoag people, who are the original stewards of this place now known as Plymouth. May we keep the First Peoples of this land in our hearts and minds as we discuss issues affecting their ancestral homelands.” To learn more about the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe, click here

What is Sustainability?

The UCLA Sustainability Committee defines sustainability as “the integration of environmental health, social equity and economic vitality in order to create thriving, healthy, diverse and resilient communities for this generation and generations to come. The practice of sustainability recognizes how these issues are interconnected and requires a systems approach and an acknowledgement of complexity.
